Somatic Therapy for Anxiety

You already know the thought isn't rational. You've named the trigger, practiced the breathing, maybe tried medication. And your body still braces first and asks questions later. Anxiety isn't only a thinking problem — it's a nervous system that learned to stay ready.

What this often looks like

  • A chest or stomach that tightens before you've consciously decided anything
  • Sleep that won't come, or comes and then breaks at 3am
  • Over-explaining, over-preparing, scanning the room for what might go wrong
  • Feeling wired and exhausted at the same time
  • Knowing the fear is out of proportion and being unable to talk yourself down

How somatic work reaches anxiety

We start with what's already safe

Before touching anything activating, we build a felt sense of ground — the body needs a reference point for calm before it will let go of vigilance.

We track sensation, not just thoughts

Anxiety lives as a physical pattern: held breath, braced shoulders, a readiness to run. Following that pattern gently is what lets it complete.

We work in small doses

Titration means we touch activation briefly and return to ease, over and over. Your capacity grows instead of getting overwhelmed.

Anxious parts get met, not managed

The part of you that worries is trying to protect you. Parts work lets you know it rather than fight it — which is usually when it softens.

Sessions are secure telehealth for Washington residents, which for anxiety work is a real advantage: you practice settling in the same room where the anxiety usually visits you.
