When insight isn't the whole answer

You've done the work, and yet the same patterns keep circling back.

01The Mind

You understand your history. You can name the pattern. You may have spent years in talk therapy, and it helped.

02The Sensation

But your body still tightens in the same way. Your nervous system still braces. Peace still feels just out of reach.

03The Root

That's because trauma doesn't only live in the story. It lives in the body. Somatic therapy meets you where the story runs out.

What somatic therapy is

A gentle, body-based way of healing trauma

Somatic therapy works with what your body is holding: breath, sensation, tension, and emotion. It doesn't rely on words alone.

You won't have to relive your trauma. Instead of going back into painful memories, you notice body sensations and emotions while also feeling a sense of safety and support in the present. If memories come up, we meet them gently through parts work, with the felt connection of your future self beside you.

The pace is slow and spacious, and always matched to your capacity. Your nervous system leads; I follow.

What can change

Room to breathe again, in your body, mind, and relationships

A calmer nervous system

Move from bracing to settled, even when life is loud.

Relief from anxiety

Meet anxious activation with body-based tools that actually reach it.

Lift from depression

Reconnect to aliveness, meaning, and your own inner light.

Gentle trauma healing

Process what talk therapy couldn't reach, without re-traumatizing.

Deeper couple connection

Rebuild trust and repair after rupture.

Secure attachment

Feel steady in yourself and safe in relationships again.

For couples

A space where neither partner is the problem

Somatic couples therapy helps you and your partner recognize the cycle between you, settle reactivity, and practice safer repair — through secure telehealth anywhere in Washington.

The pattern becomes the problem

Instead of deciding who is right, we slow the cycle down and help both partners understand what their nervous systems are protecting.

Both partners have a place

The work is not about choosing sides. Each partner is supported in feeling heard, staying present, and reaching for connection differently.

How I work

Four approaches, woven together for you

I don't choose one method and fit you into it. These approaches move together, responding to what your body and story need in each session.

01

Somatic therapy

Following the body's language to gently release what your nervous system has been holding.

02

Parts work

Getting to know wounded parts of yourself with curiosity, rather than being overtaken by them.

03

Attachment-focused therapy

Understanding how early bonds show up in your relationships now, and building secure connection.

04

Bioenergetics

Grounding, movement, and expression to help stuck energy move and complete.

FAQ

Questions about online somatic therapy

Does insurance cover somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is provided as psychotherapy by a licensed mental health counselor, so it's generally billed like other therapy sessions. I'm in-network with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Regence BlueShield of Washington, and several other major plans — see the full list on my insurance page. Like all insurance-covered therapy, it requires a diagnosis that meets your plan's criteria. Your exact cost depends on your plan, and we can check your benefits before you start.

Can somatic therapy really work online?

Yes. Many clients find it easier to settle into their body from the comfort of home. We work with breath, sensation, and gentle movement, all of which translate well to video. You'll just need a private space and a stable internet connection.

Will I have to relive my trauma?

No. We work slowly and within your capacity, focusing on what you feel in the present rather than retelling painful events. You stay grounded and supported throughout.

How is somatic therapy different from talk therapy or EMDR?

Talk therapy focuses mainly on understanding thoughts, patterns, and history. EMDR uses a structured process to help the brain reprocess difficult memories. Somatic therapy follows present-moment body sensations and nervous-system responses at a gentle pace. Each can be valuable; the best fit depends on your needs.

Can couples do somatic work together?

Yes. In couples sessions, we notice how each partner's nervous system responds during conflict and connection. Then we build new patterns of safety, repair, and secure attachment.

What if I've never done body-based work before?

That's completely fine. Many clients are new to it. We start with simple grounding, and nothing is ever forced.

Do I need to live in Washington?

Yes. I'm licensed in Washington State, so you need to be located in Washington at the time of each therapy session.

Is telehealth secure and confidential?

Sessions take place on a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted platform. Your records are kept confidential under HIPAA and Washington State law.
